WHAT IS IELTS ?

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an English language test for people who want to study abroad, migrate or work in another country where English is the native language. Over 3.5 million people take tests every year in India. IELTS is accepted by more than 10K employers, universities, schools, and immigration bodies around the world. 6 Competent user The test taker has an effective command over the language despite some inaccuracies, inappropriate usage and misunderstandings. They can use and understand the language fairly complex language, particularly in familiar situations.
5 Modest user The test taker has a partial command of the language and copes with overall meaning in most situations, although they are likely to make many mistakes. They should be able to handle basic communication in their own field.
4 Limited user The test taker lacks basic competence and is limited to familiar situations. They have frequent problems in understanding and expression. They cannot use complex language sentences.
3 Extremely limited user The test taker can only conveys and understands general meaning in very familiar situations. There are frequent breakdowns in communication.
2 Intermittent user The test taker is facing great difficulty in understanding spoken and written English.
1 Non-user The test taker has no ability to understand or use the language except a few isolated words.
0 Did not attempt the test The test taker did not answer any of the questions.
WHAT IELTS SCORE DO I NEED?

The high score in your IELTS reflects that you have a better understanding of the language and the ability to communicate. Each immigration body, university, workplace, or institution will have a specific benchmark for IELTS score requirements. So, the score you need to score will depend on what you are looking to do in the country, i.e work or study.

WHAT IS PTE (THE PEARSON TEST OF ENGLISH ACADEMIC)?

PTE Academic is a computer-based academic English language test for non-native English speakers who want to study abroad. It tests Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. To complete a PTE Academic test, you will need to attend a secure Pearson test center. You will use a computer and headset to listen to, read and respond to questions.

WHAT IS THE FORMAT OF PTE?

It is a three-hour test session that has three main parts to the test: speaking and writing (together), listening and reading. There is also an optional 10-minute break between the reading and listening parts. During the test, you will find twenty different question formats, ranging from multiple choices through to essay writing and interpreting information.

PTE Academic assesses real-life, academic English, so you will hear excerpts from lectures and view graphs and charts. You will hear a range of accents in the test, from British and American to non-native speakers, so you will be exposed to the type of accents you will encounter in everyday life.

HOW PTE IS DIFFERENT FROM IELTS?

The main difference between IELTS and PTE is that IELTS is a paper based exam, where you read and write your answers in paper, and the PTE is all computers based. In the case of IELTS the speaking part takes the form of an interview, and in the PTE you simply speak to the computer.
